The M240 (official Machine Gun, 7.62mm, M240) is the US military designation of the FN MAG.

M240g Vs M240b

M240g Vs M240b

The M240 has been used by the US Army since the late 1970s. It is widely used by infantry, rifle companies, ground vehicles, ships and aircraft. Although it is heavier than equivalent weapons, its reliability and standardization among NATO member countries is a great advantage.

File:m240e6 M192 Tripod.jpg

All variants are supplied from takedown straps and can fire most 7.62mm (.30/.308cal) NATO ammunition. The M240 variant can be converted to use non-smashing belts. There are significant weight differences and certain features between some versions that limit the compatibility of parts. Used by the US military, the M240 is currently manufactured by FN America, the American subsidiary of the Belgian company FN Herstal.

The M240B and M240G are typically fired from integrated bipods, tripods or vehicle mounts. When it comes to tripod use, the US Army primarily uses the M192 lightweight ground mount, and the US Marine Corps uses a slightly updated M2 tripod, the M122A1 tripod.

Manufactured by Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal, the FN MAG was selected for various roles by the US Army after extensive searches and competitions around the world. The MAG is a belt-fed, gas-operated, air-cooled, crew-operated, general-purpose machine gun. Its versatility is proven by the ability to effectively fire from ground vehicles, ships and aircraft from integrated tripod-mounted bipods.

Golden Eagle M240 Converted To A British L7a2

It was first adopted as a coaxial tank gun by the US Army in 1977 and was gradually adopted for more applications in the 1980s and 1990s. The M240 and M240E1 are adopted for vehicle use. This is more adopted, especially for the Army and Marine Corps. The durability of the MAG system provides superior reliability compared to the M60 while retaining many of the same key features as its predecessor. MAG actually has a more complex gas system than the M60, but offers better reliability with lower maintenance requirements but higher production cost and weight.

Compared to other machine guns, it has a very high 26,000 MRBF (average number of rounds between failures) rating for its weight. It reached approximately 7,000 MRBF in the 1970s when it was first adopted. It's not as reliable as very heavy old designs, but it's pretty reliable for its mass.

US adoption of the MAG began with a project to procure a coaxially mounted 7.62mm machine gun for tanks to replace the M73 and M219 machine guns in service in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

M240g Vs M240b

Various designs from different countries were considered. The last two candidates were the M60E2 and FN MAG, which were extensively tested with the previous M219 for comparison.

M240b Belt Fed Machine Gun Stock Photo

The two main criteria analyzed were "mean laps between stops" (MRBS, faults that can be resolved in minutes) and "mean laps between failures" (MRBF, such as broken parts). The results of the evaluated machine guns are as follows.

The MAG itself had some improvements and the M60E2 was a special coaxial variant that differed from other types. The quality of the M60 variants differs significantly, for example, between the M60E4 and M60C. The clear winner was MAG, which was designated the M240 after an Army competition in 1977.

The M240 was adopted as the US Army's standard vehicle machine gun in 1977. The Marine Corps has also adopted the M240 and M240E1 for use on vehicles such as the LAV-25. It replaced many older vehicle machine guns in the 1980s. US Navy SEALs continued to use the "CAR-60" (M60E3) version of the M60 machine gun due to its lighter weight and slower rate of fire.

The M240 was so popular that it was later converted by the infantry to the M240G and M240B. The USMC adopted the M240G for this role in 1991. Here, the M240G not only replaced the original M60 used by the Marine Corps, but also replaced the upgraded M60E3, which had come into use by the Marine Corps in the 1980s. In the late 1990s the Army adopted the M240B for infantry roles. They evaluated the vehicle-mounted M240, the M60E4, which offers nothing in common (albeit lighter and cheaper) with other FN MAG users within NATO or the USMC.

M240 Mg3 Weapons Qualification

Various versions of the M240 serve most major applications and roles, but do not replace all versions of the M60. The M60 is still sometimes used by the Navy.

As of March 2022, the US Army is processing a request for an M240 Machine Gun 6.8×51mm Conversion Kit to replace the 7.62×51mm NATO chambered M240B and M240L General Purpose Machine Guns to fire 6.8×51mm ammunition.

The weapon fires from the op bolt position. This means that the bolt is locked at the rear and only moves forward when firing the projectile. The firing pin is static and the slide moves around the firing pin, eliminating the need for a hammer. Roasting is used to time the internal mechanisms of the weapon to maintain a constant rate of fire while maintaining proper function and accuracy.

M1 Abrams tank with the commander's .50 caliber M2 Browning machine gun on the right side of the tank and the M240 ammunition loader on the left side of the tank. A second M240 is mounted coaxially to the side of the main gun.

The rate of fire can be controlled with three different gas regulator settings. The first setting allows the gun to cycle between 650-750 rounds per minute, the second setting 750-850 rounds per minute, and the third setting 850-950 rounds per minute.

This setup varies by removing the barrel, removing the gas regulator collar, and rotating the gas regulator to allow more or less gas to pass through the gun system. This is usually only done when the gun needs to be restored to working condition when contamination slows the process and there is no time to clean the gun properly.

Barrels can be changed quickly thanks to the barrel release button located on the left side of the gun. Remove the gun first and unlock it from the receiver by holding the button and moving the carry handle on the barrel from the right side of the gun towards the center. At this point the button is released and the barrel is separated from the body and set aside. Insert the new barrel into the stem and move the carry handle to the right to lock it in place.

This has significant advantages in training, logistical support, tactical versatility and joint operations. For example, an American unit with British forces can provide spare parts for the GPMG L7 and vice versa.

New M240 Machine Gun Suppressor Gets Rave Reviews From Army Maneuver In Test

The M240 has been modified to have a coaxial machine gun for tanks and 7.62mm firepower for light armored vehicles.

The M240 is part of the secondary armament of the US Army's M1 series Abrams tanks, the M2/M3 series Bradley Combat Vehicle and the US Marine Corps LAV-25.

The M240E1 is the US Marine Corps version of the original M240 coaxial/needle machine gun used on vehicles like the LAV-25. It can also be equipped with a paddle grip for flexible use like the M240D.

The M240C is a right-handed variant of the original coaxial M240, identical to the M240 except for the ammo cover and feed tray. It has a right hand feed for use as a coaxial machine gun on M2/M3 Bradley Combat Vehicles and LAVs. M1 Abrams and other M1 variants (M1A1, M1A2, M1A2 SEP) are fed from the left side of the tank. The M240C uses a charging cable instead.

m142 vs m270

m142 vs m270

M142 Vs M270 - U. S. The military variant of the MLRS vehicle is based on the chassis of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. The first M270s were delivered in 1983. The MLRS was later adopted by many NATO and other countries. The MLRS first saw service with the United States in the 1991 Gulf War. The MLRS has been upgraded for ballistic missiles, and was used by Ukraine in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In the early 1970s, the Soviet Union had a clear advantage over the US and NATO forces in rocket artillery. Soviet tactics of bombing with many vehicle-mounted multiple rockets (MRLs), such as BM-21, will saturate the target with thousands of rockets, to ensure that some will hit special purpose during mental illness. By contrast, American artillerymen preferred cannon artillery for its relative accuracy and ammunition savings over "space fire" rockets, and as a result only a small amount remained of the World War II vintage. Fireworks.

M142 Vs M270

M142 Vs M270

This perception began to change after the 1973 Yom Kippur War, which saw heavy casualties, especially from surface-to-air weapons such as surface-to-air missiles (SAMs). , as well as the good Israeli work on hitting sites such as MRLs. This combined with the recognition that such knowledge would occur on a larger scale during the war, perhaps in Europe. It will be used to measure emy anti-aircraft and for counter-battery fire, and place cannon units to provide close support to ground forces.

Can Us Supplied Himars Be A Game Changer For Ukraine?

The MLRS was developed as a General Support Rocket System (GSRS). In December 1975, the United States Army Missile Command sent a request for business proposals to help determine the best engineering approach for the GSRS.

In March 1976, the Army awarded contracts to Boeing, Emerson Electric, Martin Marietta, Northrup, and Vought to explore the definition of GSRS.

In September 1977, Boeing Aerospace and Vought received a contract to develop prototypes of the GSRS. In 1978, the United States Army Aviation and Missile Command changed the program so that the GSRS could be produced in Europe.

This is to allow European countries, which have implemented their own MLRS programs, to buy into the program.

Britain To Send M270 Rocket Launchers To Ukraine

In July 1979, the United States, West Germany, France and Great Britain signed a memorandum of understanding for joint development and production of the GSRS. In November 1979, the GSRS was upgraded to the Multiple Launch Rocket System.

The Army evaluated prototypes of the MLRS from December 1979 - February 1980. The Army selected the Vought system in May 1980. Vought began low-cost production in early 1982.

The first operational M270 battery was built in March 1983 and the first unit went to West Germany in September.

M142 Vs M270

The M270 MLRS weapon system is labeled the M270 MLRS Self-Propelled Loader/Launcher (SPLL). The SPLL is composed of three main subsystems: the M269 Loader Launcher Module (LLM), which also houses the electronic control unit, connected to the M993 Carrier Vehicle.

Ukraine Defense Contact Group: Joint Statement

M993 is the name of the M987 carrier used in the MLRS. The M987/M993 is a derivative of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle chassis.

Originally called the Fighting Vehicle System, the M987 chassis was developed as the basis for several vehicles. These include the XM1070 Electronic Fighting Vehicle, the M4 Command and Control Vehicle, the Armored Treatmt and Transport Vehicle and the Forward Area Armored Logistics System (including three vehicles including the XM1007 AFARV Vehicle.

The first GSRS plan proposed a rocket with a diameter of 210 mm. After European organizations joined the project, these were replaced with 227 mm rockets to fit the AT2 mine.

The doctrine of the Cold War for the M270 was for vehicles to present themselves and hide until needed, move to the firing point and fire their missiles, immediately move to the retreat, move to a new shelter near another fire station. The shoot-and-shoot tactics were planned to avoid the Soviet counter-battery fire. One M270 firing 12 M26 rockets will drop 7,728 missiles, and one MLRS battery with nine rockets firing 108 rockets has the equivalent of 33 battalions of artillery.

Army Tactical Missile System (atacms)

The system can fire rockets or MGM-140 ATACMS missiles, which are available in interchangeable parts. Each pod has six missiles or one ATACMS guided missile; the two types cannot be mixed. The LLM can handle two caps at a time, which are hand-loaded using a combination winch. Every dozen rockets or two ATACMS missiles can be fired in less than a minute. A missile firing twelve missiles can cover a square kilometer full of submunitions. An MLRS group salvo consists of three M270 vehicles, each firing a total of 12 rockets. With each missile having 644 degrees of M77, the cover will fall 23,184 degrees into the target. But with a two percent dud rate, that would result in approximately 400 explosive devices scattered across the region, which could threaten fridly soldiers and civilians.

In 2003, the US Army began producing low-cost M142 HIMARS. HIMARS fires all the missiles of the MLRS, but is based on the chassis of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles.

In 2006, the MLRS was updated to include shooting practices. Phase I testing of environmental guidance (XM31) was completed at a rapid pace in March 2006. Due to the Urgent Need, the environmental guidance was quickly developed and used in action in Iraq.

M142 Vs M270

Lockheed Martin also received a contract to convert the existing M30 Dual-Purpose Improved Convtional Munition (DPICM) GMLRS missiles to the XM31 unit variant.

The M31 GMLRS Unitary rocket launcher turned the M270 into the primary artillery spotter. Due to GPS guidance and a 200 lb (91 kg) high-explosive warhead, the M31 can hit targets accurately with less damage while requiring fewer missiles, reducing the logistical needs. The unitary warhead also allows the MLRS to be used in cities. The M31 has a dual-type fuse with point detonation and delay capable of attacking soft targets and lightly fortified bunkers, with the modified M31A1 equipped with a multi-type fuse that adds a proximity airburst type to workers in the workforce; The proximity mode can be set to 3 or 10 meters (9.8 or 32.8 ft) Height of Explosion (HOB). The GMLRS has a minimum range of 15 km (9.3 mi) and can engage targets up to 70 km (43 mi), impacting at a speed of Mach 2.5.

The German artillery development, called the Artillery Gun Module, used the MLRS chassis on its development vehicles.

In 2012, a contract was announced to upgrade the armor of the M270s and improve fire control for the prototype of the M142 HIMARS.

In June 2015, the M270A1 tested the missile after being upgraded by the Improved Armored Cab project, which provided the vehicle with an armored cab and windows.

Ukraine War: Uk To Send Ukraine M270 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems

In early March 2021, Lockheed announced that it had fired a prototype of the GMLRS with a range of 80 km (50 mi), part of an effort to increase the missile's range to 150 km (93 mi) .

When first deployed with the US Army, the MLRS was used in a mixed army consisting of two batteries of howitzers and one battery of MLRS SPLL (self-propelled loaders/ launchers). The first operational battery was C Battery, 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division (Ft. Riley, Kansas) in 1982. The first operational organic or "full MLRS" unit was the 6th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery.

Originally the battery had three platoons of three launchers for nine launchers per battery; by 1987, 25 MLRS batteries were operational. In the 1990s, the battery was reduced to six launchers.

M142 Vs M270

The 6th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery was reactivated as the Army's first Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) battalion in October 1984, and became known as the "Rocket Busters". In March 1990, the unit was sent to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico to conduct the first operational tests and evaluation of the Army Tactical Missile System. The success of the test provided the military with accurate, long-range fire support.

The United Kingdom And Norway Agreed To Transfer The M270 Mlrs To Ukraine

In September 1990, the 6th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Shield. Assigned to the XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery, the unit played an important role in the early defense of Saudi Arabia. When Desert Shield became Storm, the battalion was the first U.S. Army to fire into Iraq. During the war, the 6th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery provided rockets and rockets on time and were charged with two US corps in the theater, 82nd Airborne Division, 6th Frch Light Armored Division , 1st Armored, 1st Infantry Division, 101st Airborne. They were the first Russian casualties of the HIMARS (M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System), a medium- to long-range missile system that allowed Ukraine to strike behind front lines for the first time since the Russian invasion in February.

Glsdb Ammunition For Ukrainian Himars Rocket Launchers

The US began sending HIMARS to Ukraine in June as Russia continued to push through Donbass and Luhansk with heavy artillery strikes. Since then, HIMARS has become a valuable tool for the Ukrainian military, which has carried out dozens of strikes against Russian targets, including air defense systems and ammunition depots.

On Wednesday, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the US would deliver four more HIMARS helicopters, bringing the total number of aircraft sent to Ukraine to 16.

Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov tweeted on July 9, "Hymars has brought a big change to the battlefield." "There are many of them, and [US] munitions and equipment will increase our power and help disarm the terrorist state."

HIMARS is a truck-mounted multiple launch rocket system manufactured by Lockheed Martin. It entered production in the 1990s and was first deployed by the US military in the mid-2000s.

U.s. Provided Himars Effective In Ukraine > U.s. Department Of Defense > Defense Department News

The launcher can carry six GPS-guided medium-range GMLRS guided missiles, which are guided missiles with a range of 92 kilometers (57 mi), or one long-range ATACMS surface-to-surface guided missile with a range of 300 meters. kilometers (186 miles). However, the United States did not supply ATACMS to Ukraine, fearing that they would be used to attack Russian territory, which the Kremlin would see as an escalation of US involvement in the conflict.

HIMARS is operated by three crew members and takes five minutes to reload. A mobile system, it can move quickly after launch to protect the crew and systems from any enemy fighter return fire, a capability known as "shoot and run".

According to Lockheed Martin, the system costs $5 million (€4.8 million) per unit, and more than 540 units have been used in the field. The only countries that currently have HIMARS are the United States, Romania, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and now Ukraine. Sales to Poland and Taiwan were approved, and last week Estonia confirmed it would buy six systems from the US as part of a $500 million package.

HIMARS were previously deployed in Afghanistan, where the U.S. used them in the battle for Mosul against the Taliban in Kandahar province and the so-called Islamic State forces in Iraq.

U.s., Allies Increase Training Rate For Equipment Earmarked For Ukraine, Says National Security Advisor

In the early days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, foreign-supplied anti-tank weapons such as the NLAW and Javelin proved decisive in protecting the advance of Russian armored columns in cities such as Kiev and Kharkiv.

In recent months, Russia has slowly moved into eastern Ukraine, capturing the remaining Ukrainian-held cities of Luhansk and much of Donbas under heavy artillery fire.

The Ukraine weapon lacks conventional artillery, which has a maximum range of about 40 kilometers (25 mi). But HIMARS have proven decisive in boosting Ukraine's military power—they are effective at striking key command, communications and logistics centers behind enemy lines while remaining safe from Russian firepower.

Their impact is clearly felt by Russia, which sees no easy way to protect its forces and infrastructure from these precision-guided missiles. On Monday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said "priority should be to hit the enemy with long-range missiles and high-precision weapons," according to the state-run Telegram channel.

Allies Practice Simultaneous Mlrs Fire At Siil Exercise

Ukraine has used HIMARS to disrupt Russian artillery supplies on its front, where Russian forces use about 20,000 rounds a day, according to a report by the Royal Joint Armaments Institute. In early July, videos posted on social media showed ammunition depots burning, including a car depot in Donetsk owned by Russian carmaker Kamaj; The designs were hit by HIMARS.

Precision missiles were also used to hit important targets. According to Sergei Brachuk, the official representative of the Odesa region, the head of the 22nd Army Corps, Major General Artem Nasbulin, was killed near Kherson as a result of a HIMARS rocket attack earlier this month.

The Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile system apparently failed to intercept these missiles, and it remains unclear whether Russian intelligence was able to successfully detect and attack them. The Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday it had destroyed four HIMARS helicopters. However, General Mark Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at a press conference on Wednesday that none of the systems had been destroyed yet. He also said that about 200 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained to use HIMARS.

As with other weapons that briefly turn the tide of war, such as the NLAW and Turkish Bayraktar drones, Russia may find ways to adapt to HIMARS or reduce its effectiveness.

Australia To Buy U.s. Made Himars Missile System

There are also fears that over time, these systems will become difficult to maintain and repair, and the stock of expensive missiles will quickly run out. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the Himmers missile is changing the course of the war against Russia.

The US-made system has been used to strike dozens of Russian targets, such as command posts and ammunition depots.

It has also been used to open bridges in the Russian-occupied outskirts of Kherson, which Ukraine is trying to recapture.

The Himars, the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, is a five-ton truck-mounted rocket launcher that can fire six guided missiles in rapid succession.

Russia Says It Destroyed 4 Himars Launchers, In Claim Denied By Ukraine

The missiles sent to Ukraine have a range of 50 miles (80 km), more than double the range of howitzers previously provided by the US to Ukraine.

The Hummers can also fire a missile from the Army's Tactical Missile System, which has a range of 186 miles (300 km). However, America does not supply Ukraine.

The 50-mile range is similar to Russian Smurch missiles, but the Hummers fire GPS-guided missiles that can be targeted more precisely.

M142 Himars Cost

According to Phillips O'Brien, a professor of strategic studies at the University of St Andrews, the Himares were deployed in Ukraine in late June or early July.

How Himars Is A Key Enabler For The Future Battlefield

He says that initially the system was deployed against stationary targets and command centers, and not against moving forces:

"They were used along and across eastern Ukraine, hitting ammunition depots about 30 miles from Russian positions."

However, according to him, Ukraine may now start using Khimar against Russian military concentrations in barracks and command posts.

Ukraine has claimed that more than 100 soldiers were killed in rocket attacks in Lysichansk and Luhansk, and that 100 members of the Wagner Mercantile Group may have been killed in an attack on the headquarters of the Wagner Mercantile Group in Popsna, Luhansk.

Marines Double Investment In Himars Artillery Systems

The Ukrainian military said it used Himmers missiles to destroy a Russian weapons depot in Nova Kakhovka in southern Ukraine in July.

The US has reportedly provided 16 HUMRS systems to Ukraine as part of its $9 billion (£747bn) security aid package.

The UK also has a missile launch system called the M270, which is similar to the Hummers and fires the same missiles. Three of them have been delivered, three are on the way.

In mid-July, Ukrainian forces began using Himmers to block Russian access to the currently occupied southern Ukrainian city of Kherson.

President Zelensky emphasized that the system is vital to his country's efforts, writing on Facebook, "Khimmers and other precision-guided weapons are turning the tide of war in our favor."

By mid-August, Ukrainian forces had destroyed more than 100 high-value Russian targets with Khimars, according to the US military.

"This has given Ukrainian forces a new strategy to harass Russian stocks until they can capture them, reduce Russian firepower and reduce their forces.

"Himars are very accurate when used against stationary targets, when you have precise coordinates," she says.

“But it's not as effective against moving targets like troops, so it can't push back.

"I would say that the Himmers took the Russians by surprise, but that doesn't change the balance of power."

Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said Ukraine needs 50 more HUMERS systems to stop the Russian military advance and 100 more systems to launch a successful counter-operation.

He says, “16 Himmer launchers are good, as long as there's a ton of ammo. But rocket makers are under a lot of pressure to keep up supplies. "

On Friday, the governors of Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia announced that at the request of the Department of Defense, they are transferring M113s from their navies to Ukraine. The aid comes after President Joe Biden announced an $800 million package on April 13 that includes 200 M113s as well as more than a dozen other items.

"Governors are the commander-in-chief of their National Guard, and they're proud of that," John Gohin, a spokesman for the National Guard Association, said Friday.

The US Army deemed the M113, its combat taxi from the Vietnam War, obsolete and stopped procuring them in 2006. Faced with a rainy, muddy spring during combat in Donbass, Ukraine, the M113 tracks and weighs significantly less than the Abrams. Tank - Can provide transport for national troops and protection from small arms and artillery.

After the Indiana National Guard received the request, technicians at Camp Atterbury were dispatched to inspect, repair and road test their M113s. From there, the vehicles are arranged for transport and can be seen on flatbed trucks.

"In order to deliver military equipment to Ukraine, at the direction of the president, we received an order to transport it," said the head of the Joint Staff of the Indiana National Guard, Brig. Gen. Justin Mann said in the video. “So we had short notice, the team did a full technical inspection, and we were able to get all these things ready five days in advance. So, a monumental, intensive effort by our technicians who are doing a great job getting this equipment ready.

Quinlan Valvo, chief judge of the 15th Judicial District Court in Ann Arbor.

Assaulted (michigan 29, Michigan State 7)

The player and his attorney appeared early Friday morning before Judge Tamara Garwood of the 15th Judicial District Court.

Garwood ordered the players to have contact with each other only for football purposes. Outside of football goals, he should have a lawyer. Garwood also ordered the players to have no contact with the Michigan football team, the Michigan football coach or the University of Michigan, an order that defense attorneys disagreed with, calling it a ban on visiting Ann Arbor.

"To put these kids in this situation and consider them a danger to anyone at the University of Michigan outside of the context of a very emotional sporting event when we don't even know the truth of what the impulse is. This, I'm serious ," Wade Fink, Brown's attorney, said during the trial. "You are talking about a very emotional situation. No one can suggest that Mr. Brown is a danger to anyone, quite the opposite. He is a gentle, kind young man, good charity for his family, good for him. friends, good. for his program. I consider that there is a danger for the University of Michigan, coaches, players who, outside the context of the war that happens all the time.

"I don't recall coach Juwan Howard being banned from contacting the University of Wisconsin. I'm just a little worried about the severity, judge. But that's your right."

Howard, the Michigan basketball coach, was suspended for the last five games of last regular season after an incident in which he slapped the Wisconsin coach after a game in Madison.

"Juwan Howard didn't come before me," Garwood said in response to Fink. "If he had come in front of me, if it had happened here and he had been in front of me, he probably would have been in the same situation."

Attorneys for Michigan State football players also said the Washtenaw County District Attorney's office asked Garwood to impose drug and alcohol tests on five players facing charges Monday. Garwood did not claim it, and Washtenaw County prosecutor Eli Savit said the claims were "absolutely false." The box for drug and alcohol testing was not checked on the bond form, Savit said. Conditions requested by prosecutors, he said, include no firearms, and no contact with the alleged victim. The office is not asking for a complete no-contact with Michigan players, coaches and the university community, Savit said.

Five Michigan State players in court were each charged with one count of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor that carries a potential sentence of one year in prison or a fine of up to $1,000, or both.

Michigan's Gemon Green To Press Charges After Michigan State Fight

The sixth player accused of misconduct, senior Jacoby Windmon, was charged earlier this week. A seventh player, redshirt sophomore Khary Crump, faces a felony assault charge after he was seen on video swinging his helmet at a Michigan player shortly after Michigan's 29-7 win on Oct. 29. Crump was also charged earlier this week.

The tunnel incident, caught on camera by Matt Charboneau of The Detroit News, led to the suspension of eight Michigan State players, and the Big Ten fined Michigan State $100,000.

At least two attorneys for Michigan State players there alleged bias on the part of the prosecutor and the judge, both Michigan alums. Savit took some heat this week after the felony gun charge against Michigan star Mazi Smith was filed this week, even though the incident happened on Oct. 7, the day before the Indiana game. Smith has played in every Michigan game this season, and is expected to play in Saturday's Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis.

"This was a football-related incident that should not have been investigated by the police or prosecuted by the Washtenaw County prosecutor," said Jack Kramer, Wright's attorney. "I believe there is an implicit bias from the prosecutor's office and the court that went into this legal process. This is completely inappropriate.

"While I appreciate that the judge listened to the attorneys and allowed us to file, I believe he acted inappropriately in suggesting that the player was a threat to the University of Michigan or the community, which is absolutely not the case." Kramer continued. "Hopefully going forward, prosecutors and judges will put the fandom aside and give their clients a fair shake."

Savit's response: "These cases were prosecuted based on the evidence and the law. There is nothing more to say. We treated these cases like any other."

Michigan Gun Laws Assault Rifle - A stopgap law that could temporarily remove guns from people who are at risk of harming themselves or others could see action in the GOP-controlled Michigan Legislature, nearly a year after it was introduced.

Republican Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Runestad said he spoke with Republican supporters about the so-called "red flag" legislation, days after a shooting at a Florida school killed 17 students and a teacher. Robert Wittenberg, and "assured him I would read it."

Runestad stopped short of committing to a hearing on the bill, but said he was open to considering legislation that would address mental illness and gun violence.

At the same time, the leading candidates for Michigan governor offered very different responses to the legislation, with Democrats supporting the legislation and a majority of the public saying they needed more time to study the measure.

Runestad said he is concerned that many warning signs have been missed — including items that have social media issues — about the accused in Florida.

"Obviously, this type of mental health problem ... should be a cause of high concern to be actively involved in this case," Runestad, of White Lake, Oakland County, told Bridge Magazine.

Supporters say the law could prevent mass shootings by allowing law enforcement officers to take guns out of people's hands before someone gets hurt — instead of after the fact.

Opponents, including the National Rifle Association, say the measure violates the Second Amendment right to bear arms without due process.

"Thoughts and prayers don't accomplish anything. Action has to be taken," said Wittenberg, of Huntington Woods in Oakland County, referring to the common sentiment offered by mass shootings — especially Republicans.

"I'm just hoping to get at least some consideration, so we can look at the merits of the bill (and) hopefully prevent a tragedy from happening here in Michigan."

Wittenberg introduced the bill in June. Since then, a gunman has killed 58 people at a country music concert on the Las Vegas Strip, wounding several hundred others; 26 people were shot dead at a Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. And last week, a troubled former student, Nikolas Cruz, was accused of firing an AR-15 in Parkland, Florida.

Michigan Gun Rights Groups Strategize In Preparation Of Democrats' Legislative Agenda

In Michigan, the bill would allow family members or police officers to request a court to issue an "extreme risk protection order" that could protect a person from buying or owning a gun for up to a year. It allows law enforcement officers to seize firearms in a person's possession.

An order can be issued if a judge determines that "there is reasonable cause to believe that the defendant poses a significant risk of personal injury to himself or others by possessing a firearm." This may include evidence that someone has threatened or harmed themselves or others in the past.

That said, the subject of the protection order will not necessarily be present when the order is issued, according to the bill, although he must be notified that he has been given an opportunity to appeal.

"Mental illness is really at the root of these mass shootings," said Gideon D'Assandro, a spokesman for Leonard, R-DeWitt.

Why Michigan Protesters Were Allowed To Bring Guns In State Capitol

If it doesn't pull through when Republicans control both Congress and the Senate, these bills face an uphill battle. Wittenberg introduced a similar bill last legislative session, which did not make it out of committee.

Amber McCann, a spokeswoman for Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof, R-West Olive, said in an email that Meekhof "opposes the Second Amendment ban."

D'Assandro said Leonard, the Senate president, is waiting to see what action the Judiciary Committee takes. But Leonard has prioritized reforming Michigan's mental health system, primarily related to access to treatment and services, D'Assandro said.

He did not elaborate on how access to guns by the mentally ill would be covered under the scope of the proposed mental health reform.

Anna Heaton, Government Spokesperson. Rick Snyder told The Bridge that he doesn't comment on legislation that isn't on his desk, due to the possibility that the language could change first.

A spokesman for Mr. Thanedar, an Ann Arbor businessman, said he "supports the Second Amendment" but said the red flag law would "stop the panic."

Abdul Al-Sayed, a former Detroit health director, wrote in an email that the bill is "a strong first step in getting guns out of people's hands. But we must go further," he added. "Comprehensive, common-sense gun reform" would require sweeping changes to Michigan's gun laws.

As Spartans, our program is responsible for maintaining the highest level of sport. While the mood was high at the end of our match at Michigan Stadium, there was no excuse for the behavior that put our team or our opponents in danger. — Mel Tucker (@Coach_mtucker) October 30, 2022

- Police have opened an investigation into a postgame brawl in the tunnel at Michigan Stadium following Michigan's 29-7 victory over rival Michigan State late Saturday night.

Nd Video Emerges Showing Michigan, Michigan State Fight

As the closing seconds ticked off the clock, temperatures raged on the field, but cooler heads seemed to prevail — all the way down the tunnel, where some reporters headed to the postgame press conference for a video that appeared to show 10 Michigan State players— will surround a Michigan player. . with some Spartans throwing punches and kicks.

One Michigan player appeared to be defensive back Ja'Den McBurrows, who was among several Michigan State players on the floor. As the player who appeared to be McBurrows was leaving, Michigan State linebacker Itayvion Brown grabbed him and threw him into the open door at the end of the tunnel. A Michigan State Police officer grabbed Brown's coat to take him back.

At least two other Michigan State players, safety Angelo Grose and defensive end Zion Young, were seen by a Detroit News reporter throwing punches at what appeared to be McBurrows.

Moments later, both head coaches, Michigan State's Mel Tucker and Michigan's Jim Harbaugh, appeared to tell their players to go to their locker rooms.

Michigan State Fight Video Revealed As 4 Students Suspended After Msu Attack

Harbaugh called the postgame scrimmage "10 on one," with the 10 being Michigan State. He said another Michigan player was "assaulted." Michigan did not identify any of its players, but Harbaugh said one player may have broken his nose.

A source close to the team identified the two players to The Detroit News as McBurrows and cornerback Gemon Green, though it was unclear which one may have suffered a broken nose.

Manuel spoke to the media and said that Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren, who attended Saturday night, will also investigate the collision. The two university campus police departments have launched a joint investigation, Michigan Police Deputy Chief Melissa Overton confirmed to The Detroit News.

Officers from the Michigan campus police department, Michigan State Police and the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department were among the agencies working Saturday at Michigan Stadium.

"What happened after the game is unacceptable," Manuel said. "After the game we shouldn't interact like that. This is a way for other teams to take players and do what they did. Totally and completely unacceptable.

The two university presidents, Samuel L. Stanley of Michigan State and Santa J. Ono of Michigan, issued a statement Sunday morning. Stanley said he was "saddened" by the incident, that "no provocation could justify the behavior we saw in the video." Ono said he spoke with Stanley, and said Stanley personally apologized for the behavior of the Michigan State players.

Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller did not respond to a request for comment from The News after the game, but issued a statement early Sunday morning.

"I have been in contact with Commissioner Warren," Haller said in a statement. "We will work with the conference office and other businesses to gather more information."

Video Shows Michigan State's Jacoby Windmon Also Involved In Postgame Incident

"I know it's a hot game. It's hot," he said. "(We're) trying to get our guys into the locker room. We need to know what's going on.

Several players from Michigan and Michigan State were asked about the altercation during the postgame press conference, and all declined to comment, saying they had not seen the video that quickly went viral on social media.

Manuel, Warren and Haller were seen talking to police together after the players were all taken to the locker room. Warren did not immediately return calls and text messages from The News seeking comment, but the Big Ten said in a statement that it is "carefully" investigating and "will take appropriate action."

Several Michigan players took to Twitter to comment on the incident. Caption Darrius Clemons wrote: "Take 60 minutes to lay your hands on someone with no results. See you all next year." Roman Wilson, another UM receiver, tweeted: "This is what we do?"

As the game clock wound down in a game dominated by Michigan for the final three quarters, Michigan players began celebrating their first win in the series since 2019, and some went for the coveted Paul trophy. Bunyan and his clothes were put on. But dozens of other players of both teams exchanged warm words on the field. It appears that no bolts were fired or fired in the field before it was moved in the tunnel.

Post-game problems are passed to the players in the tunnel. Another video posted on Twitter from @MJoeBean showed a fan reaching down and kicking Tucker's head as the Michigan State coach entered the tunnel just after the game. Tucker punched the man in the arm in response, then extended his right arm toward the man, apparently pointing it at law enforcement as the video cut.

It's the second time this season there's been a heated incident in the Michigan Stadium tunnel, where both teams were coming off the field before the home team left and Michigan right. On Oct. 15, Penn State head coach James Franklin had an altercation with a security guard when his players yelled at Michigan players at halftime. continuous
